Everything you need to know
Rehearsal week main details
Timings
Academy will start at 10am on Sunday the 18th. We will Be finished to go home at 9.30am on the following Sunday morning the 25th.
Location
The location of the academy rehearsal week will be Grimsby Baptist Church, Grimsby, Laceby Road, DN34 5DW
If travelling by train, the closest train station is ‘Grimsby town’ station, and we can arrange a lift from there.
If arriving by 10am is difficult you’re welcome to arrive on the Saturday tea time/evening. (please let Cam know)
Eat & Sleep
Firstly, Sleep who needs sleep! The rehearsals, they are long days, so make sure you are are well rested before so you can come in to the week raring to go!
Accommodation
This year we will be staying on site at Grimsby Baptist Church. You will need to bring air bed/something to sleep on, pillow, sleeping bag or quilt etc.
Meals
All meals will be provided throughout the week by our team cook Flissy

Performance Requirements
Blacklight Gear
- blacklight hood and long sleeve black gloves
- Long sleeve black top
- Black trousers and black socks (completely black, not navy or dark grey or any markings)
Other
- Platform Shoes if need them
- Sweets (to share with team)
- Pens/Highlighters/Pencils
- Notepad (optional) if helpful to you
If you don’t have and need to order any blacklight gear (Hood, gloves and top) please let me know and I will bring it to Academy and you can either pay cash there or call and pay over the phone by card (or bank transfer).
Personal Belongings
- Bible
- Wash Kit/Toiletries and Towel
- Airbed
- Sleeping Bag or Quilt and Sheets
- Pillow
- Spending money (There isn’t a gift shop or anything, it’s just, most of the team often order a McDonalds on one of the days, obviously this is optional)
- Dress code for the week is casual (could be quite warm but I doubt it this year, let be honest who knows)
At The Festival
Timings
You will need to be at the venue ready to start rehearsals by 10am on Thursday 31st October (the day before Festival starts). The event will finish at 4:30 on Sunday, and after we have packed down, you will be released to go home at 6:30 if you can plan this into your travel arrangements etc.

1. Purpose and Mission
The Puppet Academy Team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of puppet ministry. Our mission is to engage, entertain, and inspire the attendees at the Equip Festival to strive for excellence in their own ministries, while glorifying God through our performance.
2. We are a Team
- Team work: Get stuck in! We’re in the trenches together. Academy can feel like a bootcamp, It’s intense, however, it’s an extremely fun bootcamp! Every team member is responsible for completing a task. Whether that’s rehearsals, setting up, packing down, whatever the task you will work as a team to get it done!
- Respect your team: Treat all team members, conference attendees, and leaders with respect.
3. Commitment and Responsibility
Academy Rehearsal Week
- Rehearsals: All team members are to be fully present and committed to participating at their best in every rehearsal and the preview performance on the last evening.
- Devotions: All team members are required to be present at the team devotions each morning. This is a time to be still and start the day right as a team.
Involvement at Equip Festival
- Staff Member: During the entirety of the event you, as an Academy member, are a member of Equip Festival staff and represent One Way UK. You are required to wear your Academy T-Shirts throughout the event, with the exception of the Puppetry Team Competition if you are part of the team who has entered.
- Rehearsals: All day rehearsals on Thursday and throughout the weekend ready for the Saturday showcase.
- Perform: The big one, The Saturday night showcase Performance & Puppet Academy Performance Unwrapped during Workshop session 6
Key Involvements as a Equip staff member
- Stewarding: throughout the whole event
- Assist: Assist the One Way UK team throughout the event including assisting in workshops
- Get stuck in: help with pack down on Sunday till 18.30
4. Professionalism
- Punctuality: Arrive on time you will need to be at Academy by 10am. Please notify Cam as soon as possible if you are delayed. Wake up on time to be ready for team devotions each morning.
- Appearance: Dress appropriately, the dress code is Casual during the Academy Week
- Conduct: While you are part of the Academy Team you are representing One Way UK. We will not accept disruptive and inappropriate behavior, including the use of offensive language or gestures during the Academy week and or at the Equip festival.
5. Safety and Care
- Equipment Care: Handle puppets, props and equipment with care and respect. Damage due to carelessness may be charged.
- Property Damage: We are very thankful to Grimsby Baptist Church and Bilton Evangelical Church for them allowing us to use their buildings. Please treat them with respect.
6. Confidentiality
- Performance: All of the content we are preparing for the showcase performance is top secret. Shhh! in no circumstances are you to share information, photos or knowledge of these prior to the showcase performance.
- Products: During some Academy performances we occasionally showcase a new product/puppet that will be released at Equip. in no circumstances are you to share information, photos or knowledge of these prior to their release! (Don’t ruin the surprise!)
